Editorial Policy

Sourcing standards
- Chemistry and health statements cite peer-reviewed research (PubMed-indexed journals) or standard references such as USDA FoodData Central, linked on the page where the claim appears.
- Numbers we publish — caffeine ranges, temperatures, ratios, price tiers — are stated as ranges with their assumptions, because tea is an agricultural product, not a formula.
- Cultural and historical material draws on established tea literature; where traditions disagree (as they often do), we say so rather than pick a winner silently.
Health claims
White tea attracts extravagant wellness claims. Our rules for handling them:
- We distinguish established evidence (human trials, systematic reviews) from preliminary findings (lab and animal studies) and label them accordingly.
- We avoid absolute language — “may support” is not “cures”, and we do not claim white tea treats or prevents any disease.
- Nothing on this site is medical advice. For caffeine sensitivity, pregnancy or any health condition, consult a clinician.
Tasting methodology
Tasting notes reflect real sessions, brewed gongfu style with the parameters published on each variety page, using filtered water, evaluated across at least three infusions. Flavor descriptions are a map, not a promise: harvest, storage and water change every cup, and we say so wherever we publish notes.
Updates & corrections
- Substantial guides carry a “last reviewed” date and are revisited when new research, market changes or reader corrections warrant it.
- Found an error? Write to [email protected] — verified corrections are applied promptly and material fixes are noted on the page.
Affiliate disclosure
- Some outbound links — currently Amazon links — are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
- A disclosure appears directly beside recommendations, not only on this page.
- Affiliate relationships never determine our picks: recommendations are chosen by grade and category first, and the links point to marketplace searches, not to paid placements. No brand pays to appear in our guides.
- We do not accept sponsored posts presented as editorial content.
